[Imc-finance] WSF Funding Proposal from IMC India Collective

	$750 from IMC-Finance for Indymedia India in Mumbai for the 
World Social Forum.
	Projects: Small public media lab and web radio station [16-21

Proposal:

The World Social Forum is coming to Mumbai, India in January 2004. 
Indymedia India and indymedia activists from other IMC's are planning 
a small project to cover the social forum, parallel events, and build 
indymedia organizing within south asia.

The project includes setting up a small media center with internet 
access within the official forum. This is to be an open an 
internationalist drop in space for sharing of experiences, hands on 
and political.  An outside space [as close as possible, for support 
and logistics, equipment and people storage etc] is also being 
explored for rental. Community radio is for the most part illegal in 
India and not known. In prep discussions the idea came up of creating 
a web radio studio (for the entire period of the WSF in Mumbai) and 
inviting people to participate  . With this we will be both 
supporting the struggle to create a form of participatory media which 
is locally desired and creating an activity in which people can learn 
about and participate in indymedia activities during the forum. This 
would be also a space for helping build some consolidation of IMC 
India by doing outreach and contact making.

We at IMC India have had major communications hitches - due to time 
constraints and sudden problems with connectivity leading to delays 
in sending out the proposal.

The Project is to be implemented by the core volunteers of the IMC 
India and other visiting IMC activists and independent online 
activists from non imc initiatives, by giving their time and bringing 
in and lending some personal equipment.

Since IMC India as yet does not have a bank account we request that 
the funds be sent to a IMC India volunteer based in Bombay (Mumbai). 
Given the shortage of time we would like to request IMC finance 
members to agree to transmit money to our Bombay  via courrier [DHL, 
Fed Ex, UPS or whatever radical equivalent]
