The Republican National Convention (RNC) in New York City this August
30th-September 2nd will be an enormous and important event. Currently,
IMC-stas from across the Indymedia Network are working to organize
coverage of the protests and expected police responses to the influx of
hundreds of thousands of protestors. This proposal would release up to
$3,000 in Global Indymedia funding to be earmarked specifically to support
media production and distribution of information (both during and after
the RNC).
The impetus for the funding is to ensure that Information gets out and
that funding is available for mission-critical expenses. Because it is
impossible to know the exact nature of what these expenses would be, it is
recommended that we set a ceiling of $3,000 (if less than this amount is
spent, the remainder would be returned to the Global Account).
This would leave about $10,000 in the Global Indymedia accounts for future
disbursements.
What do others think?
In solidarity,
