Friends,
In relation to problems which appear to be "only financial",
such as this (with many thanks to Evan and Clara for posting
it):

The explorations which were wisely put forth by Brian
<ski at indymedia.org> , here,
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-finance/2004-March/002118.html
have applications far wider than just the global
imc-finances work group.
It's all related to that terrible problem which we keep
starting to look at and then keep abandoning. There's always
"some deadline", "some crisis", which does not allow us to
invest time and effort to deal with the deeper situation:
* the need to create some kind of imc network- wide decision
making process, or at least some network- wide collective
entity for dialogues and for the work of liaisons on the
many and varied problems we face as a global network of
radical political activists and free media activists.
We formed (re-oriented) the imc-communication list for that
purpose, and it still has not led to formation of that
collective entity.
In order for that to happen, we need the *active*
participation of individuals who have leadership roles among
us (even if those roles are not aknowledged or formalized),
and also some sort of allegiance by the technically oriented
people among us, who actually hold all the imc power and
process in their hands. If we want to evolve, whatever imc
power and authority (yes, it does exist among us) which is
now vested within certain quarters, needs to be opened up to
a more democratic process.
