Good afternoon all

I had very little time during the planned Dakar
conference to explore the website page.
But had time today and was so pleasantly suprised.
The people who were there did a wonderful job, by the
looks of things.
I wouold like to know more about the positive outcome.

I heard the group was asked to leave the university,
is there an explanation?

Did anybody do a radio inview and if so what will
happen to the end product? Will it be broadcasted in
townships and villages?

Were there many film clips made and which issues did
these films have?

Is there going to be a Dakar-Senegal Indymedia
group-if so how exciting. can someone please let me
know what kind of interests does this group have?

I read, with sadness the email exchange over a 100 US
$ -Houston what a shame-the money was more than well
worth spent from our perspective.

Was there ever a proper proposal with a full budget
sumbitted, for the conference that took place?
It would be interesting to reveiw it, considering the
the statements and questions asked on the site and in
the various mails.

I had a friend who attended to conference and he was
rather afraid to ask some questions, important to him.

We talked and I feel these questions need to be
answered.

1) It is common knowledge that the Urban Community
-USA gave money for a ticket for somebody-we
understand from the mails to sphinx.
Also from information he did not attend the
conference.
Is this common practice within the indymedia network
not to account for cash collected and allocated?

How is process understood and what level of
participation is one as newcomer able to play.

As brand newcomer what funders are we able to
approach? Is there a policy in indymedia -who do and
who won't we take money from?

When will NeBe post the full account onto the site
sothat we are able to be informed-how much a project
like this costs?

The money given for the African delegation is still
all a mystery to many people even the African
delegation themselves. Who got it and what conditions
are people talking about.

chema this is a question to you. Reading from the
mails I believe you have an interest in setting up a
similar regional meetings would this not be an
opportunity to work together to exchange experiences.

My friend from the Congo tells me that the idea of a
southern African caravan/conference was raised as an
idea which found favour with many people.
Only, however the main condition as a suggestion is
that this idea needs to be something, the regional
groups agree to and plan together with any other
groups.
>From the CD that all delegates got I read there is a
planning document, after the evaluation that was put
together by the South African woman. Suggesting people
ask themselves if and what they would like to get
involved with, if such an idea would be discussed.
Practical questions in connect with actual planning,
concepts, policy, budgets etc..

A question to the South African Indymedia people-will
you be taking up this idea? If so I am really
interested.

The Berlin people were very much in favour of this
idea, I heard.

The idea was proposed to possibily happen in two
years time. This seems more realistic than the idea of
a meeting in Kenya. Much lobby and advocacy work can
be done in the meantime, in countries where the
indymedia concept has not arrived yet.

There was a discussion of including the 11 Southern
African countries in the planning.
What a wonderful idea.
Also discussed was the idea to start in South Africa
and end in Angola.
We are a bit disappointed, no the South Africans were
in Dakar.
>From my travelling/experience of/to South Africa last
year I saw and heard much about the work and that they
are well organised and have really engaged people
working on substantial issues. In Park Town.

Will there be a chat time for this idea?

The South African woman, who organised much of the
conference in Dakar apprears to have the contact and
experience, is she with indymedia a long time?

I really will have the time and desire to get
involved. The idea of a caravan and a chat discussion
will be great.
Does anybody know who will start it.

or shall I?
