[Imc-finance] REQUEST for financial support

From the 28th till the 30th April Warsaw, the capital of Poland, will be the
host of the European Economic Forum, which was usually taking place in 
Salzburg, Austria. The Polish president invited the Forum to Warsaw, and 
more and more of his compatriots disagree with his great hospitality. They want to
protest against the EEF. Among many anti-EEF initiatives organized by local
activists there are demonstrations (www.antyszczyt.w.pl), the Alternative Economic
Forum (www.wa29.org ), happenings, street theatres etc.   

Polish collective of Indymedia (www.pl.indymedia.org)  is keenly interested in
providing comprehensive coverage of these events. Already now there is a lot of
information about the 
summit (the first information on the EEF was published here!) and the groups 
willing to protest against it on Polish imc. In opposition to corporate media we
try to present also the voices of opponents of the neoliberal politics. Actually,
together with polish independent information service www.poprostu.pl we constitute
the only alternative to corporate media in Poland, which are prophesizing  the
would-be catastophe/apocalipse allegedly going to take place togehter with the
appearance of protesters in Warsaw. We are particularly interested in presenting
the voices from the alterglobalist movements/ groups, which are pictured by the
official media as "the main threat to young Polish democracy".... 

As an young IMC - collective (Polish imc exists since 2002), we do not have any
financial resources, and not many options to foundrise in Poland. We want to secure
fast access to information for the time of EEF both for us and for IMC people from
other countries and this involves having a space for indymedia work (with
connection to internet) which could serve as an information centre. Therefore we
decided to ask you for some financial support. 

We haven't got our own place in Warsaw until now. We tried to cooperate with 
some NGO's previously, but they dont want to give us a space for independent 
media activities for the time of the EEF. We will need the space not only 
for the time of the summit, but also for before - for workshops, meetings 
with people willing to join imc for the time of the summit. We also plan to
publish printed edition of news from imc site.

Our basic needs are: 
- renting a space for the imc - we will either try to rent some cheap space 
from the city (to get that we need to pay 3 months rent in 
advance); or - we will try to rent an internet cafe (risky option, since 
the police will probably try to convince its owner to not to do that); (300 
USD) 
- connetcing the place to internet (100 USD) 
- printing a newspaper for the time of the protests (100 USD) 

we count 4 PLN for one USD (now it is exactly 3,80 PLN, but this is changing 
all the time) 

We would need much more money, especially to print leaflets and other 
materials about the independent media and the current polish situation, but we
will try to arrange it somehow. We are going to supply hardware, video cameras,
cariers etc. Ourselves as well. We would also need much more equipment, materials
for backups etc. and we will try to organise them. We will probably try to fundrise
also in one activists foundation, but we donit know the possible result of this,
since it is so close to the summit already.

EN el fin de abril (de 28 hasta 30) vamos a tener en Varsovia (capital
de Polonia) Forum Economico Europeno, que es una version mas pequenia de
Forum Economico Mondial a Davos. En mismo tiempo los activistos polacos
organizan Forum Alternativo (http://www.antyszczyt.w.pl/),
demonstaciones y heppenings (http://www.wa29.org/).

Indymedios polacos quieren hacer relactiones directas de Forum Economico
y de Forum Alternativo. Nuestras paginas (http://pl.indymedia.org/)
tienen muchas informationes de estos dos evenementos. Juntos con portal
PoProstu (http://www.poprostu.pl/) estamos la uniqa alternativa a las
medias de estado y de corporaciones, que composan una vision de
apocalipsa, que va a pasar quando las altermondialistas llegan a
Varsovia. Esperamos mucha jente a Varsovia, no solamente activistos
polacos.

Para tener la possibilidad (por nosotros y por Imcistas de otras paises
tambien) de publier los informaciones rapido, preguntamos ustedes de nos
ayudar. En esto momento no tenemos una officina en Varsovia. Para luer
una habitation tenemos que pagar para 3 mesos. Tenemos que renovar estos
lugar un poco tambien y comprara la connecion internet. Tenemos
computadores, cameras y minidiscos, pero tenemos que comprarar
materiales (casetas, pediculas, cd etc). Quieremos tambien imprimar un
periodico cada dia con informaciones los mas recientos. 

Dinero que necessitamoes es mas-o-menos esto:
Para luear una habitacion por la officina - 300 USD
Interenet - 100 USD
Periodico (1500 examplaires) - 100 USD
Juntos: 500 USD
(1 USD = 3,80 PLN - dinero polaco)
