A short word again from the Paris collective
We promise more soon ;-)   - - - this probably needs a Twiki place!

Great to hear some positive reaction about doing something at the ESF, 
that can only nourish the energy we should be putting into this 
preparation.

As you may know, the ESF event is a very dispersed event with three main 
locations AROUND Paris.
The Metallolab is technicaly a nice project but again another location 
inside Paris.
Our current location at AG45 is also inside Paris (slightly closer to St 
Denis).
Both are excellent places for gatherings of Indymedia people who want to 
meet up or publish
however not ideal if you want to participate in the programmed events and 
be where the (200.000+) people attending the ESF are.
Unless you are a mediaktivist-on-rollers.

What are our objectives ?

- be were people are and let people access open publishing, set up an open 
Media Centre : the Paris collective can certainly do one, not more - but 
with some help from fellow French and European groups we could certainly 
do more (needs more Pcs and more techies)

- news coverage of the event : we'd have to define what news, as the ESF 
itsel and Attac.info will be covering the official -moderated- news 
coverage 

- gathering of european IMCs : we initially intended to get some ESF 
sponsorship for one workshop on indymedia,  however it's apparently easier 
to be on our own for this. Metallolab is maybe a good place for that, esp. 
an open public debate on -say- open publishing. AG45 maybe better for 
informal picnics. There are certainly a number of topics on which we could 
progress, like preparation of the next European IMC gathering, the WSIS in 
Geneva in december (just a month after ESF)

- ...(?)...

It would be good to have your views on this, and know as much in advance 
as possible what you intend to take part to. 
We'll try to help and facilitate, but a lot of you around Europe have a 
lot more experience than we have on organising around such events, so help 
and advice much wanted here !!!
