Prisoners’ club : sexual harassment of Palestinian prisoners on the rise

Nablus - A special study prepared by the Palestinian prisoner’s club has revealed that Zionist sexual harassment of Palestinian prisoners especially the juveniles was on the rise.

The study said that Zionist interrogators adopt such a method with children under 18 years old to terrorize them and force them confess.

It noted that cases of rape were also reported in addition to the routine threats, which became part of the torture methods and cruel treatment of detainees during interrogation rounds.

The study showed that such cases had increased during the Aqsa intifada, adding that Zionist interrogators also threatened prisoners of arresting their wives and sisters and raping them in order to pressure the captives into admitting charges.

Numerous prisoners especially children said that they confessed acts that they did not commit as a result of such a method.

The club noted that raping the Lebanese prisoner Mustafa Al-Deerani at the secret prison codenamed 1391 was the start of the disclosure of such a method, which the club described as “horrendous and serious”.

The study held the Zionist government responsible for such savage violations of the human and international legislations. It said that such acts constituted war crimes according to the Geneva Convention and warned of their impact on future and health of the prisoners and their families in general and the children detainees in particular.

The club cited a number of cases such as the case of Anas Al-Jawabra, 16, who was threatened of rape at the Atsion detention camp and was forced to confess all charges.

Another boy Rakan Nusseirat, 12, was sexually assaulted and tried to commit suicide twice as a result, the study pointed out.

It related statements of other prisoners, taken under oath, who were either sexually assaulted or actually raped in order to force them confess
