I, Mark Waller, am a convicted terrorist, according to this quote from the
State Department's report on Foreign Terrorist Organizations, 10/5/01 (qtd
in Chomsky's "9-11", page 123):

"The Immigration and Nationality act defines terrorist activity to mean any
activity that is unlawful under the laws of the place where it is committed
(or which, if committed in the United States, would be unlawful under the
laws of the United States or any State) and which involves any of the
following:

(I) The highjacking or sabotage of any conveyance (including an aircraft,
vessel, or vehicle)."

Anyway, several years ago in a fit of rage over a parking space I let air
out of a guy's tire in the city of Pasadena, Texas. I did not actually
damage the tire or any part of the vehicle. I was charged with "Criminal
Mischief", for which I went in and paid a small fine without seeing a judge.
I have, therefore, been convicted of a crime wherein I sabotaged a vehicle.
I stand before you as a convicted terrorist.

I am so ashamed.

But lest ye cast the first stone, look at the FBI's checklist here
http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress01/freeh051001.htm
and be sure you are not on it. Among their ideas of terrorists...

"The second category of domestic terrorists, left-wing groups, generally
profess a revolutionary socialist doctrine and view themselves as protectors
of the people against the 'dehumanizing effects' of capitalism and
imperialism. They aim to bring about change in the United States through
revolution rather than through the established political process.

"Anarchists and extremist socialist groups -- many of which, such as the
Workers'World Party, Reclaim the Streets, and Carnival Against Capitalism --
have an international presence and, at times, also represent a potential
threat in the United States. For example, anarchists, operating individually
and in groups, caused much of the damage during the 1999 World Trade
Organization ministerial meeting in Seattle.

"Special interest terrorism differs from traditional right-wing and
left-wing terrorism in that extremist special interest groups seek to
resolve specific issues, rather than effect more widespread political
change. Special interest extremists continue to conduct acts of politically
motivated violence to force segments of society, including, the general
public, to change attitudes about issues considered important to their
causes. These groups occupy the extreme fringes of animal rights, pro-life,
environmental, anti-nuclear, and other political and social movements."

Of course the Feds overlook the fact that the majority of damage at Seattle
was done by the government itself. The "leftist terrorists" were the ones
who stayed behind and cleaned up afterward. Compare their analysis of the
menace of the lefties with the harsh reality of the right, which they also
reported:

"Right-wing extremists continue to represent a serious terrorist threat. Two
of the seven planned acts of terrorism prevented in 1999 were potentially
large-scale, high-casualty attacks being planned by organized right-wing
extremists. In December 1999, individuals associated with an anti-government
group and who were planning to attack a large propane storage facility in
Elk Grove, California, were arrested by the Sacramento Joint Terrorism Task
Force. When arrested, these individuals were in possession of detonation
cord, blasting caps, grenade hulls, weapons, and various chemicals,
including ammonium nitrate. Also in 1999, the FBI interrupted plans by
members of the Southeastern States Alliance -- an umbrella organization of
militias in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and other southern
states - to steal weapons from national guard armories in Central Florida,
attack power lines in several states, and ambush federal law enforcement
officers. The goal of this group was to create social and political chaos,
thereby forcing the U.S. Government to declare martial law, an act the group
believed would lead to a violent overthrow of the Government by the American
people."

Boy did I miss it when those stories hit the headlines. This really is
frightening since successful right-wing terrorists would fail to bring about
a violent overthrow, but would succeed in bringing about martial law, a
situation which would clearly please the current administration: "If this
were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm
the dictator."- GWB, 12/18/2000

Peace, and happy New Year. Please stay somewhat sober.

Convicted Terrorist
