Hello to all IMC members

My name is Kajal Basu and I'm Executive Editor of
tehelka.com, or whatever little there is that has
survived the current Indian government's serial
depredations. I'm doing a research project on "The
Ethics of Sting Journalism in Developing Countries"
for a Canadian foundation. This is unpredecented
research and I am, fortunately enough, uniquely
placed, by virtue of time, place and providence, to
conduct it.

What I would appreciate is any informational help that
you could extend to me, in your individual and/or
institutional capacities, in terms of 1) Sting
journalism events that you are familiar with or know
of, in your area of journalistic reference, in the
English media and/or the vernaculars, in print,
audiovisual, and cyber; 2) Instances of what you
consider ethical transgressions in methodology and
that committed in the course of the stings; 3) Whether
you think the transgressions were justified; 4) If
yes, why, if no, why; 5) Your overviews on the
subject, however radical or conservative, objective or
impassioned, they might be.

This is a three-month project and I'm hard-pressed for
time. I know I'm taking liberties in asking you to
respond to me post-haste, but I'm banking on the fact
that all of us are journalists and are used to working
under the tyranny of the clock.

Write in to me at kajalbasu@yahoo.com or
kajalbasu@india.com or kajalbasu@hotmail.com.

Thank you, in advance and forevermore

Best regards

Kajal Basu
