ganesh, until now i assumed you were an expat living in Ireland (from
your email address) - sorry for my wrong assumption.

But since you live in Kolkata, and since you're clearly 
active on the newswire with similar sorts of editorial aims 
as typical Indymedia volunteers and eager to do something,
your case for having access is considerably strengthened.

In the long term, you would make your case even stronger if
you were willing to do the work of trying to develop a local
collective in Kolkata. Of course, it's not easy, noone expects
overnight miracles. But Indymedia is supposed to be more than
just a website - it's supposed to be people who come face-to-face
with each other and deal with local realities. 

Here is someone in Calcutta/Kolkata who contacted the network 
about starting an Indymedia collective some time back (maybe a 
year or more ago...)

If you read the links i suggested, you'll see theory about
consensus decision-making methods, and on the archives you'll
see examples indymedia style.
