[Imc-india] Confusion about streaming projects at the WSF in Mumbai

Hi folks,

I'm trying to figure out what's happening with streaming radio projects
at the World Social Forum in Mumbai. We, indymedia, are planning to
have a space and a streaming web radio station during the forum similar
to what we have done in Porto Alegre the last few years.

It seems that a project coming out of the European Social Forum is also
planning to do streaming with a crew of folks from APO33 (a french art
radio group) and the volunteer translators network, Bables
(www.babels.org).

I'm not sure if we want to collaborate on one project or have two or
more projects. But it seemed like a really good idea to coordinate and
know about each other.

Vickram is from indymedia in Mumbai has been in contact with the WSF
media committee to help coordinate for the indymedia side of things.
Apparently the WSF media committee isn't aware of APO33 project.

During the WTO protests in Cancun indymedia setup a stream and was able
to coordinate with a number of groups so that the stream was reasonably
full of content. Each group produced their own radio programs but also
sent in mp3's to air on the common stream. Perhaps something like that
could be worked out.

I suspect there is considerable difference in political perspective,
ideology, and tactics between the various groups that could be involved
in a collaboration and who will be doing radio at work at the WSF.
Perhaps the differences are too great to work on a collaborative
project, perhaps not. It's a matter of starting the discussion and
finding productive ways in which people can collaborate with autonomy.

in solidarity,
evan
