Dear Friends

Our site is hosted for us by indymedia at a server named Stallman, 
but unfortunately this machine will be going offline at the end of 
this month. Although a lot of indymedia groups have chosen to pay for 
their own new hosting choices as a part of this move, the indymedia 
group in India does not at present have any kind of organisation to 
manage this - we are all unpaid volunteers working completely 
informally. However, indymedia globally has agreed to keep us live at 
one of their new servers.

This change is simultaneously forcing a second change, which is a 
technical choice of underlying software. This new software will 
enable us to include new languages and sub-regional indymedias in 
India in the future, as we grow and make our presence in indymedia 
truly representative of our multicultured nation. We hope to also 
improve and firm up our capability to host other forms of media, 
audio and video, in addition to text, which we have at present.

We hope that we will be able to manage the transition, at month-end, 
without a hiccup, but none of us are that technically competent to do 
it without help. Our colleagues in the international movement are 
assisting as best they can, in the time left for this momentous 
transition.

If others would like to help us in this effort, please do volunteer 
and contribute your time and effort and skill.
