the MIR community is very dynamic (has been for a while, and it seems to
be growing!). www.indymedia.org.uk went trhough a long process of
migration from MIR, which is "well" documented:
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/ActiveToMir
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/UkMirWebDocs
There are many helpful people in both the MIR coding/developing and in
the maintenance/user areas.
It could be good if you joined the MIR network. The more the merrier.
Find the active developers etc. on IRC:
irc.indymedia.org #mir - and in irc.indymedia.org #uk
Please ask anything you want. Note that I do not have any technical
skills in the area of MIR or programming generally, but I have followed
the whole process which has been unfolding in parallel with the
transformation of www.indymedia.org.uk from a single-collective based
website, run by a group of volunteers in London to a new fully fledged
network with contributing and collaborating collectives (IMCs) all over
this island (England, Scotland, Wales etc.).
This been an amazing process; Germany established the model for
collaborative website maintenance in a network of autonomous collectives
within Indymedia, as far as i recall.
Hopefully in India there is scope for some sort of networking as well.
Have you been in touch with corpwatch india? or perhaps some of the
Bhopal groups, or the Dam movement?
Just trying to help the best I can.. I have a soft spot for India ;)
all the best of luck and wishes,
in solidarity,
/martin - lancaster & uk imcs
