hi harsh,
Whoever hid your post article_id=7417 has simply strengthened the
already watertight proposal that you and ganesh have made:
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-india/2003-August/001008.html
IMHO, while waiting for the deadline to pass (just a few more days),
you should try searching through the indymedia network to find tech
people who will be able to help with the password and show you how
to do admin (the page itself looks easy, but i've never done it, so i
simply don't know).
In any case, the network is non-hierarchical - i suggest you email
to
imc-tech at lists.indymedia.org
(with just one cc: to imc-india would be enough - there's probably no
need to keep lots of other cc's - people already cc'd should know
where to find the imc-india archive by now), if you like IRC (chat)
you could try indymedia IRC (http://irc.indymedia.org i think).
Just point to the URL with the proposal, suggest that people check out
the discussion on the imc-india archive and say you're looking for
people who can help with the tech side once the deadline has passed.
IMHO, the only reasonable explanation the Madurai collective could
come up with is that someone outside of the collective got hold of the
editorial password. If that's the case, then it would be reasonable
(after the deadline) to ask the techs to change the password, and send
the new one (offlist, of course) both to you two and to the only two
addresses we have for Amudhan / the Madurai collective. Or maybe to
wait until the Madurai collective communicate with the imc-india list
before giving them the new password. After all, we have no sign as to
whether the two addresses we have (in your cc:) are really functioning
or being read by anyone...
BTW, just to help you with understanding consensus type
decision-making, indymedia mailing list style, the way in which the
present proposal will become not just a political decision but
something which really happens, is probably when you find the tech
people who can help and they have a look for themselves at the
situation and judge whether they feel a valid decision has been
made. IMHO the proposal is perfectly clear and consensual and the
decision is likely to be accepted as valid.
