Greetings IMC UK people,
Need some help with this. We're here in Oregon working on a video and
we'd like to include some Billy Bragg music. We're wondering how best
to go about securing copyright permission, and we're hoping that you can
help us out. Would it be smart to send the email below directly to the
office@billybragg.co.uk email address that is listed on his website, or
is that going to get hopelessly snarled in a web of PR wonks? Has Mr.
Bragg given any kind of blanket permission to use his stuff for IMC
projects? Does anyone have any idea how to get ahold of him fast to
expedite permission?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as we're on a very tight
editing schedule and we didn't think of using the song until today.
We'd like to try to get permission within the next two days,
Dave

We are an Independent Media Center (www.indymedia.org) video team
working on a documentary of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)
actions in Quebec City last year, 19-22 April 2001. The piece will
highlight the destructive effects of the FTAA on the working people of
the Americas, and will be updated to include events that have happened
since the Quebec summit, including the economic collapse of neoliberal
regimes in South America, the alleged "War on Terror", and the recent
approval of fast-track trade promotion authority for the Bush
administration. The next FTAA summit will be happening in Quito,
Ecuador, in October.
The team we have assembled includes some of the same people that worked
on the "Praha 2000: IMF / World Bank Under Siege" and "This is What
Democracy Looks Like" films.
We would be extremely grateful if you would allow us permission to use
"The Marching Song of the Covert Battalions" in our video. We think
it's the perfect song to use over images of marching riot police
attacking demonstrators.
Hoping for a good response,
David Hrycyszyn
