Press Release
British Man's New Book Banned by Muslim Nation
The new book by controversial Nottingham author, Philip Gardiner, has =
already been banned from one country - the United Arab Emirates.=20
Apparently the book, The Shining Ones, has been banned on religious =
grounds even though the author is a complete atheist.=20
Launched in July, the book has been selling very well, considering it's =
from a brand new publishing company - radikalbooks.com. The author has =
been appearing on radio stations across the nation, stirring up =
controversy and interest in the new theories outlined in the book, which =
claims to have a new theory for the origin of what we term civilisation. =
"The first we heard about the ban was when an email came from somebody =
in the United Arab Emirates wanting the book, but complaining that it =
had been banned. We contacted the UAE Council and were informed that it =
was 'probably' on religious grounds.", said the author, "I am not =
entirely surprised because there are not going to be many religious =
establishments which will be happy with the theory."
The Theory goes that civilisation did not begin with trade or location =
necessarily, but with the growing accumulation of power held by the =
religious shaman or medicine man and that any other reason for the =
eruption of a city state is secondary. Whether or not the book has been =
banned does not seem to matter, as there are orders flooding into the =
publishing company from across the world. Gazelle, the distributors said =
that they had rarely seen a new publishing company come into the market =
place with such a strong book and with a ban in place the interest in =
this book is only going to be greater. Now the publishing company are =
looking seriously at the next book from the author which is an =
investigation into the existence of God, with a view to upping the =
initial print runs. Proof, Does God Exist? is due out in November for =
the Christmas market and is probably going to stir things up again with =
another major tour of the countries media planned.=20
The book is now available from any of the usual book shops, web sites or =
directly from radikalbooks.com although the publishers are pointing out =
that stocks are running low already and they may need to re-print soon. =
The author is currently working on the script for the television =
documentary which is being planned in secret.=20
