Hey All,
As you know, our website is up and functioning at =
http://mumbaidada.bandwidthcoop.org - for it to develop and take shape, =
all of you need to start using it and contributing to it... I've just =
tried to outline some of the features of the site below, if you have any =
questions, please dont hesitate to ask me or post the questions on the =
list.
Publishing :=20
This is extremely simple. Just click on the "Publish Text" link on the =
left hand-side of the page(or "post article link near the top of the =
page). It will take you to a form, where you type in the article, chose =
the category, write the title, etc. and "Submit" and Voila! it will be =
up on the site immediately (displayed on the right hand-side column =
newswire). If you would like to upload images, video, audio, etc. to go =
with the article, you can simply attach it through the form. If you want =
to submit only media without an article to go with it, click on the =
"Upload Media" link off the front-page.
Adding a Comment: If you wish to add a comment to an article already =
posted, you can do so through a simple form that shows up at the bottom =
of every article.
Features: These are the articles that show up in the centre-column. =
Features get created either when many people favourably rate an article, =
or when an editor promotes an article to feature status. I hope people =
volunteer to be editors, and everyone takes part in this decision making =
process.
Calendar: This link is near the top of the page. Use this to read about =
events happening around the city that people have posted to the =
calendar. If you want to post information about an event/protest =
happening in the city, use the "add an event" link at the left-hand side =
of the page.
The Otherpress: Use this link if you want to link to and comment upon =
articles published in the mainstream media / on other website. Use this =
for positive and negative critique.
Links: We're currently using this page as a database to links to =
organizations around the city and country. Please do add links to =
organizations/groups you think are relevant. Also, please do use it to =
link to any website that you think is relevant.
Most of the site is pretty simple and easy to understand. Do ask me any =
questions, and please please do make suggestions on how the site can =
perhaps be improved (and even better, if you have the expertise to be =
able to do the improvements yourself!).
Anyways, please do start using the site, posting to the site - its only =
going to become a great source of democratic media with everyones =
participation and involvement!
