IMC Bombay/Mumbai - discussion on grassroots involvement
Hi IMC Bombay/Mumbai people, new-imc people,
Thanks to everyone for all the comments following my initial post:
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-mumbai/2002-July/000086.html
On rereading my final comments:
> Anyway, i've said enough, i'd like to hear what many people on
> new-imc feel before i (at least) would feel ready for either
> proposing IMC Bombay/Mumbai for internal new-imc approval or else
i realise i made the error of thinking that noone else from IMC Bombay
would speak up - it would have been more reasonable and less
"condescending" of me to wait to hear what people on new-imc *and*
imc-mumbai have to say - my apologies.
Anyway, here are all the comments i found from IMC Bombay/Mumbai people:

i think all these comments explain the situation much better than i
could possibly summarise, and since i now see a discussion on an
initial editorial policy in the minutes of the recent meeting, i'm
going to post this in a following message as part of the "new-imc"
record to check that a new IMC has got started and is on the way to
dealing with each of the issues, and i will then propose IMC
Mumbai/Bombay for the standard 3-day deadline on new-imc. After this,
there'll be a 7-day deadline on imc-process. Remember that both the
archives are public, and that posting is possible to both lists
without subscription. (Actually, there's been so little spam on
new-imc recently, that maybe non-subscribers' posts there wait until a
moderator deals with them - on imc-process they go straight to the
archive.)
However, i think i'll pick out one of the most "active" comments,
which is clearly a matter for imc-mumbai people, but which you might
have missed in the large number of comments on the theme:

The challenge would be not only to "collectively" assess the site, but
also to find ways to make any criticisms in constructive ways, and in
a way which avoids presenting IMC Mumbai as a "competitor". For
example, agreeing on an email to write to the site managers, with cc:
to the imc-mumbai list, which is critical and constructive without
being discouraging. Tough, but i'm sure you could handle it. :)
OK, i've said enough on the grassroots issue.
Some other emails in a few moments...
