hey all,
thanks for the responses on the naming issue...
I think I agree with "Bombay/Mumbai" sounding a little strange.
I propose that we list ourselves as "Mumbai" and through the website use =
the words Mumbai and Bombay interchangeably so that a> we dont restrict =
ourselves to one, and b> people feel free to use any of the two names in =
posts.
I really think the purpose of "Bombay/Mumbai" was so that people do feel =
comfortable with either and can use the name according to preference - =
but yes, listing ourselves as Mumbai/Bombay does sound weird.
I wouldn't want to completely call ourselves "Mumbai" either, because =
many people, including myself, still prefer the name "Bombay" for a =
variety of reasons (not just sentimental, I dont think).
anyways, so I propose, listing ourselves as "Mumbai", having BOTH =
bombay.indymedia.org and mumbai.indymedia.org as our URL aliases and =
using the words Bombay and Mumbai interchangeably through the site (for =
eg. perhaps we can have "Bombay Independent Media Center" show up on the =
main page.)
do reply with thoughts :).
take care,
Sanjay
