Hi Jyothi,
My name is Jay and I'm a member of the Philadelphia Independent Media
Center, as well as the new-imc@indymedia.org working group, the group that
works with aspiring IMCs join the Indymedia network. I'm so glad to hear
you're interested in forming an IMC in Bangalore! That's very exciting.
Since Boud has been overwhelmed by new-imc working group tasks lately, I'll
happily be one of your contacts on the new-imc working group.
So, how to proceed. Well, Boud's response to your message may give you a
good start. There's no rush here -- the important thing is to develop a
solid, sustainable and funcational IMC. Better to take time to organize
well than to rush ahead with a group that has no future. In that context,
take your time to look through the Indymedia sites, to read the documents
at http://newimc.indymedia.org, to reach out to a wide variety of people in
your area, to get in contact with other Indymedia volunteers in places like
Mumbai and elsewhere in India.
Feel free to ask me, and/or the new-imc@indymedia.org working group, any
questions you may have as you go along. The process of joining the
Indymedia network is itme-consuming and sometimes confusing. We'll try to
help in any way we can.
When you feel as if you're ready to proceed through the official new-imc
process (as outlined in http://newimc.indymedia.org) drop us a line and
we'll try to help.
Thank you, and we look forward to good things happening.
Jay
