<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">Dear Friend,</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">You may be aware of the World Social
Forum that opposes globalisation with a slogan &quot;Another World Is
Possible!&quot; held in Porto Alegre, Brazil for last two
years.</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1"><br></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">In January 2002 Forum, it was
decided to initiate the forum process at regional level as well as
around relevant issue/s. As a result, a process for Asia Social Forum
is under way in India for last few months. India will host ASF in
Hyderabad from January 2 to 7, 2003.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">World Social Forum is an open forum
that brings together all those social action groups, organizations and
individuals who oppose neo liberal globalisation and believe that
alternative/s is possible. It provides space to share their thoughts
and experiences, exchange ideas, debate and dialogue the alternatives.
ASF too is part of the same process. We hope to make the ASF an
inspired and inspiring space where movements/organizations/
groups/individuals / will come in from all over India and Asia to
carry the message of the World Social Forum.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">However, the event in Hyderabad
should not be the only focus. It should provide an impetus for the
movements to strengthen and consolidate.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">A small meeting of groups in
Maharshtra was held in Pune on July 7. It was decided then to hold a
broader meeting, on the August 23 rd, of many more groups,
organisations and individuals who are interested in participating in
the process, making it truly inclusive and effective.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">We invite you to participate in this
meeting. Kindly circulate this invite to as many as you
can.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">We need to discuss issues like what
kind of Maharashtra process do we envisage, what programmes and
activities we want to hold as well as what themes and issues most
relevant for Maharashtra.</font><br>
<font face="Arial" size="-1"></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" size="-1">Kindly confirm your participation at
