THE ASIAN YOUTH CAMP, 2003
making another world possible

The Youth Camp aims to highlight and promote the significant role played
by youth across the world in the global movement to assert that ‘Another
World Is Possible’. It will define alternatives to sustain and defend the
dignity, identity and democratic space of individuals and societies. It
will also expose as well as oppose the violation of these human rights,
carried out on a global scale through the implementation of the neo-
liberal framework.

The Youth Camp is a space for young people to reaffirm their resistance to
social, economic, cultural, physical and political discrimination. It
ensures the representation and participation of all young people within
the World Social Forum, and adds value to it – in spirit, thought and
action. Its significance is in highlighting the role of youth in the
resistance against globalization, imperialism and sectarian violence. The
Asian Youth Camp 2003 is a distinct process within the Asian Social Forum,
offering an independent space and range of activities centered around the
issues and interests of youth.

The Asian Youth Camp, 2003 will,

· Enable youth networking across countries and across sectors
· To assess and highlight how youth are affected by global imperialism
and sectarian violence across Asia
· To develop an agenda for youth networking and action against global
imperialism and violence through the 'Asia Youth Charter'
· To give voice and visibility to concerns of Asian youth in global
platforms and networks, including the World Social Forum

More than 1500 young people from diverse backgrounds will come together
for the Asian Youth Camp 2003. The programs of the Camp are designed to
reflect the struggles and victories of youth who are students, dalits,
tribals, refugees, disabled, street youth, informal sector workers as well
as LGBT, cultural, technical and media groups.
