About the Peace Festival:

It=92s a 2 day event being organized at the Gandhi Bhawan (Kumara Krupa =
road, near Chitra Kala Parishad), Bangalore on the 8th and 9th of June =
from 10 am to 7 pm. The festival organized by =91Bangalore Initiative =
for Peace=92 comprises of a number of events ranging from seminars to =
film shows to cultural program etc. The =91White Ribbon Stall=92 is =
campaigning for peace and invites all peace lovers to come together.

Together we can rock it.

About the White Ribbon Campaign:

Violence in Gujarat continues. The country seems to be perpetually on =
the brink of war. And the violence continues in the rest of the country =
- perhaps not physically, but in the kinds of conversations we overhear, =
the gestures we watch people make: words and expressions of =
war-mongering and communal hatred are all around us. We may be confused =
about the kinds of responses we should make, we may be uncertain about =
what we can do individually and collectively to make a difference.

But all of us share a common sense of outrage, and a quest for peace. We =
know that war will not help the peoples of South Asia, and communalism =
turns our pride in Indian plurality into a sad caricature. It is about =
time that we expressed our need for peace, for non-violence, together; =
it is about time we stopped being the 'silent majority'. Because we are =
both - unfortunately silent and fortunately a majority.

So say YES to peace. Peacefully!=20

                                           *Wear a White Ribbon*=20

*Ask at least five other people to wear white =
ribbons*

We need symbols of peace, of secularism, of humaneness: we need to stand =
up and be counted. Please pass on this request to as many people as you =
can.=20
Let us wear our white ribbons till the violence ends - both in deed and =
in word.
Thank you.
