To,

The Chief Minister,

Maharashtra.

Sir,

The Task Force appointed by our State Govt has clearly stated that more than 3600 families are yet to receive land for resettlement. The promise made by the Government of Maharashtra that no raise beyond 90 metres will be allowed without rehabilitating all those affected at that level has been broken and the height increased to 95 mtr. This act has jeopardised lives of hundreds of adivasi families who faced submergence of their houses and fields and was a total violation of the Narmada Tribunal's rehabilitation policy as well as the Supreme Court's final judgement.

We request you to take a firm stand against the increasing of the height of the dam, and stand by our brethren from the valley

Positively,

XYZ

This is to request you to send in the above or similar petitions to the chief minister Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh before the 8th of Oct ‘02 when a meeting is scheduled with the CM and the agitationists- Please send in your letters / petitions on the no.s 2029214 or 3631446

800 men and women from the Satpuras are currently camping at the Azad Maidan awaiting a response to their demands from the rehabilitation Minister

for details check the ‘updates’ section at http://www.narmada.org/

On the 9th of Oct from 11.00am to 2.00 pm there is a public hearing on the issue at Azad Maidan. The tribals and activists who have come down from the valley will present their side to a panel of eminent personalities from various fields.
