FEATURE COMPILATIONS:
- THE MEDIA WAR
The role of the corporate media in the U.S. and U.K. as mouthpieces of
the Bush and Blair war machines has become more blatant since the
start of the invasion of Iraq. Protests received scant coverage as
many corporate news websites and newspapers shifted their focus to
coverage of the invasion itself, which coverage the military restricts
or manipulates. Independent media activists provided extensive
coverage of anti-war protests which continued to rage across the
globe.
Here are some features on actions against the media and about various
anti-war media and media war issues:

- ANTI-WAR PROTEST REPORTS, March 20-30
Here a summary of the scope of anti-war protests in the last 6 weeks.
The recent anti-war protests were massive during the first two weeks
after the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Over 5 million people protesting
during the first weekend after the war, 3/21-23, and, again, over five
million protested the following week, 3/24-30.
Combined with the over 15 million protesting on 2/15-16 and probably
at least 5 million more from 2/16 to the start of the war on 3/20, the
number of protesters in six weeks was very probably over 30 million.

- ARGENTINA EVICTIONS
In the last two weeks as Argentina gears up for elections the
Argentine government has increased repression of social movements.
This repression has been characterized by an increase in eviction
attempts of assemblies and occupied factories as well as the Indepedent
Media Center in Argentina.
- IMC ARGENTINA FACES EVICTION
For over a year, Indymedia Argentina has been more than a simple site on
the internet. It is a network, a place to meet, a tool for thousands of
people from around the world to inform themselves about what is happening
in Argentina - to talk and to get together. The Indymedia center has been
housed in a bank building whose owners had abandoned it. A judge has now
ordered the eviction of the bank

- ZANON WORKER'S FACTORY FACES EVICTION, ARGENTINA
Zanon is South America's largest tile factory located in southern
Patagonia, Argentina. In 2001 it was occupied by it's workers and has
been put into production and is currently managed by them since their
takeover. Recently it has come under severe eviction threat.
Background on Zanon (ES):
http://argentina.indymedia.org/news/2002/12/73034.php
>From the moment it became clear that the workers of Zanon were
preparing to resist a possible eviction, people, families and
organisations began to arrive at the factory to resist. Zanon does not
simply represent worthwhile work for three hundred families; it's also
the realisation of a dream of another way to understand the economy
and social relations. The worker-run Zanon believes that it can use
all its productive potentials to guarantee food and dignity for seven
hundred families.
Massive demonstrations occur to attempt to stop the eviction of
workers who control this factory:
