FEATURE COMPILATION:

- G8 PROTESTS, June 1-3

Free Movement and Free Information was the slogan of the 
first major protest against the G8 summit in Evian on Friday,
May 30. Throughout the day, symbolic actions illustrated 
the connections between both demands.

>From the early morning hours of the main anti-G8 protest day, 
June 1, cheerful crowds had blockaded bridges and streets and 
engaged in various protests across the region around Evian. 
Police made mass arrests and went in with heavy use of teargas, 
rubber bullets and concussion granades, injuring many people. 
The G8 summit was delayed for a couple of hours, while up to 
100,000 took to the streets.
