<P><FONT face="Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">Ditto to Alasdairs point: "couldn't make the meeting yesterday, makes two in a row I've missed, but I'm committed to working on indymedia. It's been a bit of a bad month for being able to get to stuff for one reason or another." On the legal thing I have a lawyers briefing paper on libel and defamation. I'll copy and distribute at the next meeting.</FONT></P>

<P>&gt;Personally to me it comes down to the legal position... we'll do noone </P>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;any good if we're closed down over some silly post, and incitement to
<DIV></DIV>&gt;vilence is rightly or wrongly a crime. On the other hand, this
<DIV></DIV>&gt;particular article doesn't actually incite violence that I can see- it
<DIV></DIV>&gt;says "Let's try to cause trouble for the bastards."
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;"Causing trouble" could easily just be picketing or something similar.
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;My personal feeling is that we should always err on the side of not
<DIV></DIV>&gt;getting hiding a post. Unless there is a very, very clear reason /for/
<DIV></DIV>&gt;it to be hidden, it should not be hidden- I think of it like innocent
<DIV></DIV>&gt;until proven guilty.
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;That said, we should try to avoid getting too snarled up in this issue,
<DIV></DIV>&gt;which is a thorny one. The focus should always be on what content we can
<DIV></DIV>&gt;produce ourselves, not how we moderate the open newswire.
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;PS, couldn't make the meeting yesterday, makes two in a row I've missed,
<DIV></DIV>&gt;but I'm committed to working on indymedia. It's been a bit of a bad
<DIV></DIV>&gt;month for being able to get to stuff for one reason or another.
