Hiro Server Meeting
Hiro.indymedia.org is the Vancouver based server.
There was a working meeting on October 3th to
setup the server for hosting indy sites. Currently
both victoria and vancouver are hosted on hiro.
	Read the meeting transcript.

Nigeria IMC
They got two laptops but they need a lot more.
In the threat people also talked about improving
	communication between new-imc and imc-tech.

Offline copies of indymedia sites
Toon from Belgium wanted to know how to make a static
copy of an indymedia site on a laptop. A couple of
suggestions were thrown around from using IE's site
archive type function to wget. Maffew wrote a perl
script that fixes the urls for an offline indymedia
script. But, i can't find the url to that script right now.

Plug 'n' Politix
This weekend there is a gathering of techies in Zurich
to talk about free cybercafe's, squats, technology, and
politics. We setup a web radio station with interviews
and other 'self' coverage of the event. In attendance
are techies from the IMC's in germany, italy, switzerland,
	slovenia, norway, and the netherlands.

Calendars
There are two programs most imc's use for calendars on
their sites. One is the active calendar, which is already
installed for most indymedia sites. It's a more basic
calendar system. The other option is to use protest.net.
You can create a calendar which is hosted on protest.net
but has the graphics and html of your indysite.

More push to eye mirroring fun
It appears pushtoeye, the script that moves things
over to images.indymedia.org has broken. The interim
solution is to have the indymedia sites server images
locally. If your images are breaking 12 minutes after
being uploaded you need to have this fix added to your
site. Hopefully there will be a meeting this weekend
	to fix the problem.

Indymedia on Handhelds
People keep requesting it. I believe there is a wap
version of indymedia, but nobody really uses wap.
This is another great task for some aspiring imc-techie
	to take on.

DNS Changes
Lynn is going to change fs.freespeech.org from BIND to
tinydns based on djbdns. This will mean a change in the
way we update and manage the dns records.

Article About Online Journalism
First Monday has an interesting article looking in to
the field of online journalism. They mention indymedia
but more importantly they look at the whole field.
	Definitely worth the read.

Action Apps (APC) & Updating Pages
John from LA has installed and is playing with APC's
action apps as a way of letting more imc people update
pages on indymedia sites. This might be of interest for
	other cities.

Mir Update
Mir is coming along. The media handlers for uploading
more kinds of rich media have a framework, but need people
to write the implementations most types of media, but it is
just a matter of following the framework. The english language
templates are also a little out of date. If you're a java
programmer please jump in and help.

IMC-India Asks for Help
They are in the process of restarting up and they want
to know how to get help from imc-tech. In general
we need to make more clear how people from various imc's
	can work with imc-tech better.

IMC-Tech email for new-imc working group
I wrote up a quick email summarizing what imc-tech
can do for new imc's. This should be looked at and
revised. Also it is of interest to existing imc's
	which are looking for help.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The IMC-Tech summary is a semi-regular update on the activities
of the amorphous global imc-tech collective. By presenting a summary
of some of the discussions and activities of imc-tech we hope to inform
the larger indymedia community of our activities. This will help
promote transparency and lubricate the gears of our internal democratic
processes. All IMC mailinglists and working groups should be producing
regular summaries of their activities
