Agenda:

*restructuring the contact database

the new contact db can be seen at www.indymedia.org/contact
it includes all the information present in
www.indymedia.org/contact.php3 page and some private information for
network communication only
it also contains information about more technical/editorial information
such as: language, syndication, parent_imc, latitude, longitude,
timezone (the last 4 still to be implemented)
(lat and long suggested for the creation of a graphical map)

you can find a dump of the contact database (ie: all the information it
holds) at 
http://www.indymedia.org/contact/contact.sql.txt

the idea is to have a database holding all the information needed to
keep track of the network nodes development, contact point and basic
information, so as to make easier the building of a communication
infrastructure and the facilitation of node to node and node to many
communication.

at the moment the database holds all the information contained in the
www.indymedia.org/contact.php3 page and the syndication URL's for live
imcs.

when the interface is completed and the database design is finished each
imc will have an account to edit his own information

next development: 
password for users encrypted in the database.
add lat/long/timezones/parent_imc system/internal documentation link
	column
add codebase table (id name website bug-reports description statistics)
complete the interface:
	- user management
	- easier information retrieval / information editing
		(almost there : link from the imc list)
page generation:
	- contact.php3
	- cities.inc (already implemented)
	- sindycation.php3 (already implemented)

*merging the contact / new-imc information in a single tool

new imc info is automatically entered when people fill
newimc.indymedia.org form
new imc applicant receive automatically a username/password

what do we need to make contact db a useful resource for 
	- newimc.php3 (a summary page for newimc process)
	- weekly reminder

*volunter.indy

other need is to integrate volunteer indy with this database 
still debated how to do this

Arc is writing the code in python so it will be ppossible to merge
volunteer site admin with contact db at a later stage

*summarizing the comm structure and infrastructure of the network

<PseudoPun> I think 2 isn't optional. global imc has an immense documentation problem. our communication will fail if we don't get documention on order as well. so we should try to combine communication with documentation efforts 


*future developments and tasks

We need to take up some task and set ourselves a deadline for the db
within this deadline the database, the interface and the output pages
should be ready, as well as a presentation of the database and a
proposal for how it can be maintained

oct 15th 

Proposed people for tasks :
blicero + bart -> network infrastructure network summary coordination
blicero + mark -> contact db development
arc -> volunteer db interface development
blicero + bart -> contact db data updates coordination 

These people volunteered to coordinate effort, but this cannot happen
without more people participating into this effort
So we hope other people from the network will join the project detailed
in this mail to reach a version 1.0 of the network overview and
communication tools :)))))
