Brandon et.al,

First, I appreciate the proposal and agree with what Brandon is proposing
here. Second, I think this is a good idea for the IMC to pay.

BUT.....unfortunately, the IMC doesn't have the money to do all of this:
estimated $1800. Currently, the IMC has $9000 discretionary money after
what is allocated to other resources is taken out. I just think $1800 is
a large amount of money to use from what is currently there.

Perhaps the Seattle IMC can pay for 1/2 and we can propose to the global
network funding for the other 1/2. But again, I just don't think Seattle
should supply the funds for all $1800.

Thanks for putting this out there Brandon,
Cinde

Subject: [Seasc] imc-tech-solidarity funding proposal

The computers donated by SVSD to the Seattle imc are going to be picked up
by some roving imcistas (evan, joshua, jeff) and driven to a portland
warehouse where they will be rebuilt and prepared for transport to s.
america.

Thus, I propose that the Seattle IMC pay for:

1) cost of uhaul from (and back to) portland
$250 total (could be $300)

2) RAM for all the computers we are sending to portland . I estimate: 100
computers x 128MB @ $25, but I still don't have a good source or a solid
quote at that price. Worst case scenario, we can get 64MB chips.
$2500 total

3) stipend thank you gifts to the business that stored the computers over
the last 2 months, and to the volunteers trekking from portland to deliver
them.
$50 total

Grand Total: $2800 to get the computers equipped with ram and delivered to
one of imc's tech-solidarity hubs.

I'll propose this at the seattle GM tues night, but I wanted to get input
here as well.

brandon
