This sounds like a good project. I assume you're hopeing that we'll be
able to get a shipment of recycled computers like we were able to do for
ecuador.

My primary consern is that we figure out a solid way of getting the
computers through customs. As it stands i think the portland imc folks are
planning starting building out computers for argentina in December. I've
talked to the folks at accrc in oakland. They aren't going to have
computers for a while as they are behind on other projects. I think we'll
need to use the indymedia network to try and reach out and find some more
boxes to work on.

The other issue is that the brasil imc folks really want to get a shipment
of computers as well. I hope to find out if there is anyway to
economically ship smaller numbers of computers.

Right now it costs around $2500 to $2800 to ship a 40 foot container. But
for a 20 foot container which has half the space is just $300 less. I
believe if we were shipping a partial container we'd still have to pay
almost the same amount of money.

One option is to just admit that the shipping is going to be cost around
$2500 regardless of how much we send. If we do that we could probally get
30 to 50 computers for both brasil and argentina in the next few months.
It's worth noting that with ecuador as an example it takes a LONG time
from when we finish the boxes until they arrive at the destination imc.

Hendrix, is there a project like the freebaires community wireless project
in Rosario?
