[imc-tech-solidarity] URGENTE: envo de la computadora

Cuando comenzamos este proyecto hace un año, conseguimos recibir

ordenadores nuevos y almacenarlos gratis en California.

CMI Brasi pudo recibir servicios gratuitos de abogados y el envío de 
computadores sin costo a Brasil. Nosotros coordenamos el envío de estos 
para varias otras regiones por tierra.

Ahora estos computadores están viejos. Añadiendo otros mucho más nuevos 
que ya están siendo enviados por diferentes grupos desde varios lugares.

Estamos pagando $220 por mes para almacenarlos en los EEUU, por lo tanto 
ya gastamos miles de dólares guardándolos aquí.

Los abogados en Brasil están trabajando mucho con los papeles que son 
necesarios para recibirlos. Una vez que el papeleo se haya resuelto, nos 
enviarán un modelo que poderá ser seguido en el futuro, porque ésto nunca 
ha sido hecho antes en Brasil.

Una vez que el papeleo esté completo, creemos que el envío para Brasil por 
barco y por tierra a otros países estará asegurado.

Sim embargo, de momento, no creemos que haga sentido continuar pagando por 
el almacenamiento y esperar a que los computadores se hagan cada vez más 
antiguos.

Si continuase pasando el tiempo, no seremos capaces de enviarlos a ningún 
lugar (porque ya no serán más útiles) y costaría miles de dólares 
reciclarlos adecuadamente en los EEUU.

Pero el ACCRC está interesado en incluir el envío de 50 ordenadores con el 
nuestro de 240 para el gobierno guatemalteco.

El papeleo ya está hecho, y el ACCRC tiene hasta el jueves para hacer 
saber al gobierno de Guatemala cual es el tamaño del contendor que tienen 
que pedir.

Proponemos que ese envío de 240 computadores vaya a Guatemala.

También proponemos que, después de que el papeleo termine por parte de los 
abogados brasileños, este envío para Brasil sea el prioritario dentro del 
Proyecto de Solidaridad del CMI

en esta dirección.

When we started this project a year ago,  we were able to get newer
computers and we were able to store the computers for free in California.
Brazil IMC was able to get free lawyer services and get free shipment
of the computers overland in Brazil.  And we had co-ordinated for the
shipment of the computers to many other regions.
Now these computers are older.  Much newer computers are being processed
for shipment elsewhere by other groups.
Now we have to pay $220/month to store these computers in the US, so we
have already spent thousands storing the computers here.
The lawyers in Brazil are still putting alot of work into the paperwork
that is required to recieve the computers.  Once the paperwork is
completed, they will have sent a precendent that can be followed in the
future, because this has never been done before in Brazil.
Once this paperwork is completed, we think that an overseas shipment to
Brazil and overland shipment to the other countries should take place.
however, at this time, we do not think it makes sense to continue to
pay for storage and wait for computers that are getting older and
older.
If they continue to get older, we will not be able to ship them anywhere
(because they will no longer be useful) and it will cost thousands of
dollars to recycle them properly in the US.
But the ACCRC is interested in including their shipment of 50 computers
with our shipment of 240 computers to the guatamalan government.
The paperwork is done, and the ACCRC has until thursdays to let the
government in Guatamala know what size of shipping container to order.

we propose that this shipment of 240 computers go to Guatamala.

We also propose that, after the paperwork is completed by the Brazialian
lawyers, that a shipment to Brazil will be the highest priority shipment
out of the imc-solidarity project.

please respond before thursday, if you think that we should not move
forward in this direction.
