i see this as main future feature of software that runs indymedia 
sites:  filtering
... ability to filter in different and more sophisticated ways is crucial
for viewers to navigate through the mass of information that indymedia network
gets daily ...

i think that we definitely should
because without filtering more information is often less!
... that's the feedback i get from many users
and i share their views as a user as well

question of main page would be much less of a question then
because viewers would have much more control
which kind of content would they prefer to see
when they arrive to the site
