GAINSVILLE IMC LAUNCHES
there was flurry of discussion about gainsville imc:
*** Gainsville IMC seems not to have the "open publishing" philosophy of
many IMC sites. Open publishing means that anybody can publish and see
their content up on the website. Some people suggested this was essential
to what an IMC is.[1] IMC-UK pointed out that they allow all articles to
be published, and then hide those that seem inappropriate while IMC-Germany
is planning to have a similarly closed system.[2] This conversation is
still going on on imc-tech and imc-communication.

*** Arthur was also interested if anybody had the contact information for
Gainsville IMC
*** Anybody know they are using to run the website? (looks nifty ;)

NEW PUSHTOEYE.PL
*** pushtoeye is the script that mirrors the imc rich media content for
hosting and streaming to loudeye.com.
*** maff has written a new one(pushtoeye.pl) in perl, and the old
pushtoeye script (pushtoeye.sh) SHOULD NOT be used anymore. a general
discussion of mirroring followed.

LOOKING FORWARD THROUGH 2001
*** Arthur sent out this longish email about the future of imc-tech for
2001. Does a good job (I think) of pulling together many of the visions,
goals, and todos discussed by the imc-tech collective over the last 6
months.
*** sparked a conversation about the relationship between imc, and cat,
and the indy websites and active.

ACTIVE RELEASE 1.60
*** active release 1.60 is announced with andy's performance
enhancements. a stepping stone to active 1.61? which maff proposes is
stable version that everybody should upgrade to. the email includes
descriptions, and links to more information about active's new features.
*** now we just need to get everybody upgraded.
