This is a letter i sent out to the people that have written to us
over the past few months. The london based volunteers we invite to a
welcome meeting - but other collective need to form if we are going
to decentralise in any way.
If you would also like to contact other IMC people in your area -
send me a mail and i will add you to the region you want...

Hello
I am writting to you as you have contacted Indymedia (IMC uk) and
live outside london - you should have all recieved an introduction
letter to IMC explaining a little about who we are and how we try to
work the site.
At the moment the IMC uk site is run by an adminastrative collective
mainly based in London - this is because that is where it started and
personal meetings tend to be easier than e-mail. But we would really
like IMC uk to a decentralised network - all working together.
As we are all doing this in our spare time and as yet don't have a
base, the process is often alot slower than we would like, but as we
slowly build a better working structure it should be easier for new
people to join in and take on some of the many projects that need
doing
As you live outside of London we presume you do not want to come to
our weekly meetings where many issues are discussed. So we would like
to encourage the setting up of other IMC collectives around the
country - that will form a network, and the London collective can
concentrate on local issues!
These new collectives could set up their own site (ie.
www.bristol.indymedia.org - soon to start - who want to do a locally
aimed site) or we could set up sub-sections of the main page, with
one uk newswire (this is a technical limit at the moment but other
options will develope and all is open for discussion...
Below is alist of the places that people have volunteered from - and
the number of people in the area (0) - we would like to send on your
e-mails to others in your area so you can contact each other. Before
i do this i would like to give those of you that don't want your
e-mail sent out to tell me directly (e-mail cactus@zetnet.co.uk) -
if we don't hear from you we will presume you agree.

Of course anyone can still contribute to Indymedia without meeting up
and forming collectives - please continue.
Bristol: for those near bristol, i would suggest you contact IMC
bristol - see http://lists.indymedia.org - where you should find
their working list, there should be an e-mail contact.
