[Imc-uk-associates] Proposal for change of use for this list (imcuk associates)

Hi folks,

dave from indymedia (london) here

ages ago we set up this imc email list
(imc-uk-associates at lists.indymedia.org) with the idea that it could be used
to keep in touch about important developments etc in our media scape - but
it aint been used for ages and ages....

some of us in london have recently started a discussion about doing a
physical indy media centre for the dsei arms fair week of protests
(www.dsei.org) etc and we want to use an mail list to co-ordinate it

so rather than set up a *another* new list, we thought it would be better to
use this one - any objections?

the idea is to run an open media centre for the whole week with reporting,
video and radio streaming etc - more the way things have been done at the
summit style of mobilisations

at the mo we think we can use quite a bit of the convergence space, with
also the use of a church hall near to dsei and another space to spread
ourselves + functions around

we're cobbling together an intro email about the media space ideas for dsei,
and i know a few of you are already plotting media projects around dsei -
anyway we will be inviting (/need :) lots of participation to pull it off
and rock it as i know we could

we've had some short dicsussions about it in london with dsei folk and
started looking at what will need doing, but the main thing at the mo is to
get some proposals together and let folks know about the initiative, then
have a get together if that makes sense

once we have rough consensus people will prob split into functional loose
groups to work towards september something along the lines of:

space coordination
tech infrastructure/computers/connectivity
dispatch/reporting systems/communication
radio projects
video projects
networking/communication/supporting materials

but there's plenty of room for things like screenings and exhibitions etc
as well.
