this application came into tao today....

tao doesn't really assist imc groups because the IMC seems to have far
vaster resources that tao (i mean overall in the US, not locally) - these
folks say that imc doesn't have room for them on their servers? maybe one
of the folks here who has more contacts with the seattle imc could look
into helping the brazil IMC out... cause i'm hearing a lot about wanting
to strengthen north south connections....

why wants to join: We are the brazilian imc colective and we need some disk space and help. At a first moment we need a lot of help, but after we get our imc site we may also help you.

mission of organization: We are the collective of the new brazilian imc.
We want to provide an alternative for the coorporative media for those that are part of the socials movements, like the landless works movement MST, of our country.
This way the people of our country an of the world may know our struggles.

final comments: We are having a hard work to set our imc up. We don't have money to buy an server of ours and the global imc doesn't have space on its servers.
I jannuary it is going to happen the world social forum here in brazil. We really would like to provide an covering of it for everyone in the world, because the mass media won't, and if they do they will do it with a distorced view.
In this forum some guests are Walden Bello, Vandana Shiva, Noam Chomsky and movementes such as the
MST and the Zapatistas. So, this urgent to us to have an brazilian imc, but again we don't have finnacial ways to have our own server and the global imc can help us.
Also , the meida in Brazil is a monopoly of one group that have tv channels, newspapers and radio stations. This gropu is so powerfull that they ellected the last 3 presidents.
It is urgent and a very big necessity to have an independent media center here in Brazil.
