hi bart,

great work following through with all the austria stuff. i was wondering if
we'd like to include with the package of information going to folks based in
or near europe, the notes from the recent imc-europe meeting in brussels.
then folks could get a sense of the current organizing that's going on and
feel a sense of what the regional network is doing in their part of the
world and probably have ideas about how to plug in.

i have those notes if you think this is a good idea. i'll check with carlo
and mara to see if there is a more refined version.

peace,
sheri

Hello Gerald, Marcus, others,

I'm Bart, a volunteer for the new-imc Working Group. We're the working group
dealing with the new IMC requests. I live in Belgium and I'm the one
contacting European requests. I send this mail(s) also to all the other
people who contacted me about austria imc since I sended out the documents
the first time. Anyway, I really support there should be an imc in austria
and if you're organised by now, it won't be difficult to get the documents
ok in a quick time.

There's oly a minor problem for now. I've seen the site is up and running
and there are people working on it and doing a great job ! For the moment
you're listed in the citie list on Indymedia.org, but I propose to take you
temporary off because this whole process off approving imc's results in
getting an imc listed in the citie list. It's not really fair for other
imc's if they see imc's get listed for one reason or another without any
kind of process. Feel free to discuss this with the new-imc WG group
(new-imc at lists.indymedia.org)

In the following mails you get these documents:
1. Introductory letter
2. IMC Memberships criteria
3. Principles of Unity
4. Global Indymedia Overview
You should read them carefully and answer the ones that should be answered
(2 & 3), after discusssing them in your local group.

There are some additional questions we would like to ask; since they'll help
us in finding out how austria would like to work and probably allready
works. It's about the amount of outreach you've done in your local community
to alternative & independent media makers, activists, activist groups ...
How many people are involved at the moment, ....

We decided also to ask aspiring imc's to write to the new-imc working group
a mail with why they want to form an imc. That makes it for us a lot easier
to know how much you've thought already about becoming an imc ...

For more information you can contact me or the new-imc wg
(new-imc at lists.indymedia.org)

Greetings,
