imc-india, new-imc
- cross-post to new-imc because of question on centre-column etc password
and tech help

Amudhan,
Great to see your quick and point-by-point reply. This is a
good way to get work done efficiently and quickly!

You don't need a password to publish. Just click on the "publish"
link and you'll get to:

http://india.indymedia.org/publish.php3

Follow the instructions there. Depending on the time of day and
traffic load, your story might take 30 seconds to appear, or it
might take many hours or a day to appear.

Great!

OK, there's no urgency. Think about it and talk about it.

I don't think you responded to this one. What are your
feelings about contacting these organisations?

OK.

Great! This is very useful, for obvious reasons. Later on, your
local techies will be able to train other Indian techies.

As above, just click on "publish". The stories appear in the
right-hand column. Alternatively, if you open the page

http://india.indymedia.org/front.php3

then the stories (the "newswire") fill up most of the page.

Indymedia is an open publishing site - anyone can publish (without
any password).

Password for site management
----------------------------
The question about the password is for managing the centre column
(and possibly putting things in the left column). I think that new-imc
people would be happy and strongly encourage the madurai group to have
access to this password.

Comments, anyone at new-imc (or imc-india)?

The question now is to find someone with the password!
One of these people should have a copy

Vatsan <varadara at cs.umn.edu>
Stephanie <banerian at u.washington.edu>
Bonnie <rabbit at cownow.com>

(Put in "@" instead of " at ".)

Your local "techies" will need to learn some html (and maybe some
other stuff) in order to do this.

Everyone at new-imc: given the recent comments by Siv, Jay and
Sheri, and the consistent enthusiasm for having IMC(s) in India,
I think now is the time to show that we are serious: we need some
techies to help bring the Madurai group (and they have some local
techies) up to speed...
