hey friends,
My name is andy, i'm a volunteer for sydney
(australia) indymedia. I recently had the pleasure to meet Silvan Agius -
a traveller from Malta currently in Sydney - and we spoke about the
possibility of skill-sharing and networking between Maltese and Australian
"alternative media" groups - specifically about how to faciliate starting
Malta indymedia with groups in Malta who are interested.

My proposal would be firstly for those in Malta interested in
starting a Malta indymedia familiarise yourself with the documents at:
	http://newimc.indymedia.org
then come to decision amognst yourselves as to how to procede with
introducting yourselves to the rest of the indymedia community as a whole.

Secondly, with the possibility of working directly with Silvan
here in oz (till next March at least), and through him technical contacts
in Malta, the tech group in Sydney would work directly with Malta
indymedia techies to establish a standard indymedia tech
infrastructure. That is, setup a Linux server with all the appropriate
free software/open source applications
(PHP,Apache,PostgreSQL,MySQL,perl..) that indymedia servers require.

At this stage, the next small step would probaly be for those
interested in pursuing this collaboration to establish an email
list (the CAT collective [http://www.cat.org.au] can host this, or
numerous other tech groups if more appropriate).
perhaps "imc-malta-formation" as the list name?

	comments most welcome.

cheers
