My name is Jay.  I'm a member of the Philadelphia Independent Media Center, and
have been involved in many Indymedia working groups, such as the one that helps
new IMCs in their effort to join the network.  I have been in touch with
Palisa, and he probably told you I'd be in contact with you.

I'm so excited you're interested in becoming involved with Indymedia.  That's
wonderful.  You are embarking on what will be a long, difficult, but ultimately
empowering and fulfilling road.  Keeping an effective, sustainable and powerful
local IMC together is often quite a hard task.  As you know, there are people
around the world working together to keep the Indymedia network going. 
Becoming part of such an exciting international network is both a pleasure and
a responsibility. 

So, how do you proceed?  The best thing to do, in addition to familiarizing
yourself with Indymedia sites, is to take a look at the
"http://newimc.indymedia.org" site.  That will give you information about the
network, and about what steps to take.  

Feel free to ask me and/or the new-imc at indymedia.org working group if you have
any questions.  We'll do all we can to help.
