introductory_statement:
My name is Martin. I have been working on this project, North Texas Independent Media Center, roughly since last February. I became interested in the indymedia network on September 29th of last year, when my eyes were opened to the lack of press freedom in the US. While flipping through the cable and seeing various depictions of war on every station from the History Channel to Fox news, C-SPAN was airing a peace march of 30,000 people in Washington DC. I couldn\'t understand why something this big and important was not being covered on CNN or any of the major networks. This revelation launched me into a months-long, sleepless frenzy of research which led me to the likes of Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn, and in the midst I stumbled across indymedia. I felt that I had been awakened from a 28 year dream and found myself smack in the middle of my destiny. The process to get a North Texas Indymedia off the ground has not been easy, but I think that if you will view our website at !
www.ntimc.org, you will find that we are on the right track and are ready to be accepted into the network.
