HTML/Graphic Knowledge. We have many groups in the tampa area who are very interested in a Tampa IMC and are willing to organize. We can also organize through the University of South Florida, a student body full of activists.
outreach:
So far, its been all electronic, and it will soon be brought into the physical world. I have been in contact with many people and groups, indcluding a tampa indymedia listserve.
introductory_statement:
The Tampa Bay area is in need for a common gateway and interface
for all its groups, committees, issues, and events. Tampa Bay is a teeming
city with the University of South Florida at is urban center; home of
MacDill AFB, the
war on Terrorism\'s central command; and producing the St. Petersburg Times,
one of the nation\'s largest newspapers. The city is also home to many
activists and
groups including the Greens, Amnesty Tampa, Alliance of Concerned Students,
WMNF
and Free Speech Radio News; focuses on such events as the Tampa Bill of
Rights (repeal
the USA Patriot Act); and has worked in solidarity with International
ANSWER.
Demonstrations, vigils, and other activities are constantly being held on
campus, at MacDill,
or other places around the city. Tampa-IMC will be one way to organize and
coordinate these
events for a bigger impact.
St. Pete Times is the largest piece of corporate media infiltration in the
city of Tampa
Bay. Tampa-IMC will allow people to post articles in reference to or as a
reply to
St. Pete Times, as well as bring up many local issues not mentioned in the
Times.
The Tampa Bay area encompasses several large counties, including
Hillsborough, Pinellas,
and Pasco. Each area and its individuals are like spokes to a wheel.
Tampa-IMC will
serve at its connecting Hub, allowing each other to act autonomously but
also in
solidarity, sharing vital information to turn Tampa Bay into the progressive
area it
could be.
