The main difference here however is that Jerusalem is
the political of both Israel and Palestine, whereas
Euskalherria is not the capital of Catalunia.

The name choice is controversal, and it is good for
the IMC to support the controversal. It is a question
that has not been faced in this way yet. The Chiapas
IMC has a separate url from the Mexico IMC. The
Hawaii IMC, which has many posts from those who want
native sovereignty, does use the name of a US state.
Every situation is unique and not totally relevant to
the the other.

I think IMC-Israel folk should know about the proposed
IMC-Palestine url, but a veto does not seem wise or
even necessary.

The Palestinian Authority does have a top-level domain
".ps", and Israel has ".il". IMC-Israel uses the url
indymedia.org.il, so the use of the name jerusalem in
a different top-level domain may not impact
IMC-Israel's feelings on the use of the url.

One thing I haven't seen yet is how the new IMC and
the Israel one would be listed in the IMC left nav.
Right now Israel is the only Middle-Eastern IMC and is
under its own name as its heading. India has a
similar case. Should these all go under an "Asia"
heading? Should there be a "Middle East" heading?
Where would this put Pakistan when the IMC there
ultimately goes online? It makes sense to move Israel
from its own heading once Palestine is up there, as no
matter what the outcome, those two groups are
inexorably linked.

I hope this helps,
Mike
