[New-imc] americalatina.indymedia.org has to go through the new-imc process?

Summary: Quick history in english of the americalatina site.
=09 It will be like global site but in spanish for latin america.
=09 Need feedback if this site should go through new imc process.

Because i'm short on time and other people can write this in spanish but
this is for the english speaking imcistas.

The idea of creating a 'global' or network site for the latin american
imc's has been floating around since the last world social forum.
Basically it's to say that the current global site is english/anglo
centric and that could be value in having something equilvent which brings
together the 10 or so latin american imc's. It would provide a features
newswire similar to the global site with features from the center columns
of the locals. It also has center column featuers of major stories
conserning global or latin american issues. The site should also help
create a space for more indymedia network coverage in spanish and
portugese.

The subject of a americalatina site has been brought up at three ad hoc
meetings of latin american imc's. First during the world social forum in
porto alegre, then in buenos aries in feburary, and most reciently at the
ruckus camp in california. There have been people from imc brasil,
uruguay, argentina, colombia, and chiapas involved in the discussions at
various points.

So far it is just a project and a page. There is still more discussion and
work needed to make sure that this is what most of the latina imc's want
and how they are going to manage the site. For now the site does not have
open publishing but is only pulling from the local imc's. It hasn't been
decided if open publishing will be added.

I personally see this as a project of a number of imc's rather than a new
imc in and of itself. Just like how there are the print and radio
projects. When gaba and i were talking about it seemed like a good idea to
run it by the new-imc and imc-process lists to inform people of the
project and get their feedback.
