Egbe-Mbah Valentine Eben,

This is Jay, and I'm a volunteer from the Philadelphia Independent Media
Center.  I'm also part of the working group that welcomes aspiring
independent media centers into the Indymedia network.  You may have already
heard from one or more people on the new-imc working group.  If so, great
-- we try to share the work of helping aspiring IMCs join the network, so a
few friendly folks may contact you.  If not . . . hello from the new-imc
working group!  

I just saw the form you filled out,  How exciting to have more people
interested in forming IMCs in Africa.  It's late now, but tomorrow night,
if no one else from the working group has done so already, I plan to take a
moment and write a detailed note explaining the process of becoming an new
independent media center.  Also, I'll try to connect you with other
indymedia organizers in Africa, both those who have already formed IMCs
(Nigeria, South Africa) and those who are in the process of doing so.  

Right now, though, I'd like to welcome you to doorway into the wonderful
world of Indymedia.  Developing an independent media center will be a
thrill as well as a tremendous challenge.  We at the new-imc working group
will do our best to help you form the most powerful and effective local IMC
possible.
