Hi Andy,

This is Chris from the DC IMC. As I understand it, you all have sent your mission statement and editorial policy to the new imc working group. The next step is for you to review the IMC principles of unity and membership criteria and come to consensus on those two documents. Feel free to criticize the documents and propose changes. This is all a learning and evolving process for everybody. If you do not yet have copies of those two documents, they are available at the new imc website at http://newimc.indymedia.org/ The new imc page is also great to look over (if you haven't done so already) for detailed information on the process of creating a new imc.

The principles of unity and the membership criteria are the documents that we ask your collective to carefully review, comment on and send back to the new IMC list.

After that, the next step is for the Pittsburgh collective to create a statement or essay or short story (any style you'd like) that expresses why you are interested in starting an IMC in your city or region and why you want to join the indymedia network.

Then, all the information will be submitted to the IMC Process working group for approval. It may sound like a lot but it's really not arduous. It's just a process. Once the approval is given, then you get the indymedia domain, will be listed on the list of indymedia centers and will be official!

Let me know if I can help in any other way. Please email me directly. Thanks! Chris
