Hi Jake and the Richmond IMC,

This is Jay from Philadelphia and the new-imc working group. Congratulations
on reviving the Richmond IMC. You're right to have filled out the new-imc
form. We've had a couple cases in which IMCs that used to exist have fallen
into the hands of a new group of people. We've encouraged those IMCs to go
through the new-imc process. Generally the old versions of those IMCs didn't
last, at least in part, because there wasn't enough organizing up front to
enable the IMC to sustain itself. The new-imc process encourages an IMC to get
its act together before moving forward. That may seem like a pain, but we've
found the hard work results in a much more solid long term IMC than those built
on the fly.

We've been doing a decent job of sharing the work of helping aspiring IMCs here
at the new-imc working group, at least as far as U.S.-based IMCs go. Anyone
out there on the new-imc list who wants to help Richmond through the process?
Maybe Sarah? Anyone else?

While we're trying to figure out who's going to help you, be sure to soak in
all the information at "newimc.indymedia.org". That will really help you on
the way.

Looking forward to seeing the Richmond IMC thrive,

Jay
