Hi Max,

Overworked we are, that's for sure! Thanks for the offer of help.

Welcoming a new imc into the fold is generally pretty simple. Basically, we're
just trying to encourage an aspiring IMC into the network by having them follow
the ten steps outlined at newimc.indymedia.org. The goal is to encourage them
to organize well, considring issues such as outreach, decision-making processes
and sustainability. The hope is that they'll have to tackle all these issues
and more if they want to be able to fulfill the indymedia network criteria. In
doing so, they'll become a stronger and more viable group.

My suggestion would be to familiarize yourself a bit with how the new-imc
working group works (or doesn't :) by hanging out here on the list, paying
attention to how we communicate, and perhaps by paging through the archives a
bit. Also, I'd suggest to subscribe to some of the key indymedia organizing
lists (such as imc-process, imc-communication, etc.) and keep track of those,
so when a new imc asks how the network accomplishes all it does, you can say,
now from a position of authority, "darned if I know!"

Seriously, just hang around a bit, get a sense of how things work in this great
global experiment, and as soon as you feel as if you're getting into the swing
of things, let us know you feel you're ready. Probably what will happen is a
U.S.-based IMC will send in their info, and someone from this list will
volunteer to help them. You can volunteer to co-help, and you can learn how to
welcome a new imc into the network by doing it.

Thanks again for the offer. It's greatly appreciated.

Jay
