Mark, everyone,
Just thinking of the criticisms about overheavy bureaucracy, it
seems to me that maybe the Departmental Secretary of New-IMC or else
the Undersecretary to the Division Chief of the Internal Redevelopment
Project, sub-plan R32A(ii) of the Inter-Ministerial Sub-Committee
(Regulations and Documentation) may have forgotten something.

just teasing praccus here ;)

OK, in english ;), i think we forgot to add in Jay's excellent "brief"
description of the new-imc process on the home page at

http://newimc.indymedia.org

Jay's message is here:

http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/new-imc/2002-March/003108.html

It's very long, so maybe the full version could go on a separate page

howto10steps.html

and just the headings go on the main page:

Suggestions for a brief version for the main page,

http://newimc.indymedia.org

in the position that Jay has put in ...003108.html, but drastically
summarised as follows

(maybe Jay or someone could comment on this?)

##################################################
1 ) Pre-organizing: the first step is to talk with people in your
community and try to get the sense if there is interest in forming an
IMC.

2) look at the documents linked through the newimc.indymedia.org site:

3) When you think you're really ready to do some good organizing, fill out the
form at newimc.indymedia.org.

4) open a mailing list

5) O - R - G - A - N - I - Z - E !!!!

6) With your forming collective, write a mission statement and editorial
policy, maybe contact imc-tech at this stage.

7) When you're really ready, and only when you're ready, reply to each of the
membership criteria points one by one, and send to new-imc at indymedia.org.

8) Your new-imc contact proposes your site to new-imc, if noone blocks
within 3 days, this is passed to imc-process, if noone blocks there within
7 days, you become part of the network and are put on the cities.inc list
once your web site is ready.

9) The fun begins. Get involved in the global lists and Indymedia
discussions and decisions. Offer to work with other IMCs from your
area or elsewhere around the world. Do good work.

10) Change the world, for the better of course. We wouldn't expect
anything less.

i also think the sections of the page itself which correspond to numbers
here should have the numbers. i think these are:

(step 2) PROVISIONAL IMC NETWORK DOCUMENTS
(step 7) Draft of IMC Membership Criteria

(step 3) NEW IMC FORM

If these could be added to the page, it would make it clearer that there
are a few other steps, which while less bureaucratised ;), like
(step 5) "O - R - G - A - N - I - Z - E !!!! ", are just as important,
if not more...

For the full page of Jay's 10-step process, e.g.
howto10steps.html

the mission statements are already at the bottom of the main page
newimc.indymedia.org

Question: has anyone grouped together some editorial policies?
